BIOGRAPHY

A love of clothes and a fascination with their history lead Carlo Manzi to start the company in 1982, predominantly to supply costumes from the 1950′s to the present day. These eras were ignored by costume houses at that time.  Having worked as a stylist he knew exactly what gaps there were in the costume hire market.

Since those early days the stock has been added to in both directions. Our stock now extends back to the 1930′s through to the 1990′s and we still cover the modern-day extensively. New stock of all periods is added on a weekly basis and our archive of womenswear has continued to expand in recent years.

All classes are catered for across the various eras. From workwear, through general daywear to evening wear.  The archive reflects years of keen and selective collecting by Carlo himself, who has scoured flea markets, second hand shops and auctions all over the world for more than 30 years. We house countless one off pieces that tell stories. These items include biker jackets lovingly embellished by their punk owners or paint splattered overalls bought from a builder walking down the street.

Among our range of accessories we have an impressive selection of eyewear, from mid-19th century to the present day.  We also stock a large range of watches and jewellery for both men and women.

We regularly make for productions on a New for Hire basis.  As well as film and television we also hire costumes for commercials as well as garments to design teams sourcing inspiration and for editorial shoots.

All visits are strictly by appointment.
